Frequently asked questions about portraits.

Do you charge a sitting fee?
Yes, I charge a sitting fee of just £30.00 (subject to conditions)

If we have a large group photographed and then we decide we want individual members of the group photographing, do we have to pay a sitting fee for each of them?
No, not unless the sitting starts to extend way beyond the hour, then an additional £10.00 is charged.

How long will David take over the pictures?
The session will usually take 30 - 60 minutes, unless we have large groups and based on your requirements.
Children sometimes need more attention and this can sometimes take longer.

At what ages to you start to take pictures of children?
I have taken pictures of new born babies, so we can start from any age.   I will always discuss the details with our clients first.

How many pictures do you take on an average portrait sitting?
There is no set limit to the amount of pictures taken.  You cannot fix the amount of pictures to take, because you never know what is going to happen on the day, I just keep taking them.

How many pictures will you show us?
Between 25 and 75 pictures are shown to you, this is either by digital projection, a CD - slide show for you to view at home or via a security passworded web site.

When can we see our pictures?
David will usually try to arrange the viewing within 5 days of the sitting. We like to have adults at the studio viewing, although children are welcome.

Which type of cameras does David use?
David is fully digital and has been for two years. The flexibility of the digital  system allows him to really show his creative flair for fantastic wedding & portrait pictures.

The cameras that are used are the Fuji S2 and S3, along with Nikon & Sigma lenses.
David will occasionally use medium format film cameras (Bronica SQAi/ETRs) depending on the shoot.

Is there any extra charge for editing?
Only if there are specific areas that you would like changed, or specific instructions like the addition of text etc.
Please ask for prices.

When do we have to pay for the sitting and pictures?
The sitting fee is payable in full on the day of the sitting, less any deposit paid.
There is a £10.00 non-refundable deposit payable at the time of booking your portrait.
Payment’s for orders are payable in full at the time of placing the order.

Can other people see the pictures after the viewing date?
Yes, anybody can providing you allow them access to your secure web site (details through myself).

How much editing is used on the pictures?
There is just enough editing on the pictures to look at tone, colour and general appearance.
There may be options to look at reducing blemishes or lines, and to replace a persons smile in one picture with a smile from another.

Do you have various backgrounds?
Yes, I have a selection of backgrounds available.  However, I prefer to photograph you in a more natural enviroment such as your home, garden or other place as agreed.

Can we see our picture on the internet?
Yes, this is the most popular method for clients to view their images and is live for 28 days following your portrait session.

Can we have different frames for our pictures?
We have a selection of frames at the studio, we have all our frames made by hand locally. We can supply triple print frames, single print frames, almost anything you require to make your picture stand out on the wall.

What sort of clothes should we wear on the day?
As most of our pictures are very relaxed and informal, we would prefer that you wear very comfortable clothes, such as jeans, tee shirts, chino’s, casual shirts etc.

Please ask for a copy of our leaflet “Helpful Hints for Planning Your Portrait Session”.

How long do you keep the images?
We keep them for as long as we are in business.
You will always have access to the images, call to arrange a viewing.

Once we have chosen our pictures how long does it take before we get them?
Depending on the day you choose, the pictures could be back to us within three working days, and ready for you within 5 days. The usual is about 7 days from order to the finished item.

If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me and I will discuss them with you.
